Jemma Bartlett
Soprano Saxophone
Rotterdam based, Australian saxophonist Jemma Bartlett is expanding the world of innovative concert experiences and interdisciplinary performances.
She received her Bachelor of Music Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium studying with Michael Duke and her Masters at Codarts Rotterdam studying with Femke IJlstra. She has performed with numerous orchestras and chamber groups throughout Australia and Europe from Wollongong Symphony orchestra to Ricciotti Ensemble on stages from Het Concertgebouw to local churches.
Chamber music has always been a large part of her musical practice with highlights including being a finalist in the Gelre Chamber Music competition, receiving funding for her voice/saxophone duet and performing for the Mayor of Rotterdam with her chamber music collective.
The Emerald Saxophone Quartet is a passion project for Jemma and she is thrilled to bring this quartet to life as a platform to champion underrepresented composers, help to guide and grow the next generation of musicians and create special concert experiences for everyone from OG classical music lovers to first timers.
Joseph Moruzzi
Alto Saxophone
Joseph Moruzzi is an American saxophonist originally from Massachusetts, and is currently residing in Amsterdam. The main focus of Joseph’s work is on classical and contemporary repertoire, which includes transcriptions of forgotten works, theatrical music, and new compositions written for the saxophone.
Joseph’s versatility as a soloist and chamber musician have brought him to stages internationally, including Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the United States. He is thrilled to be the alto saxophone chair in the Emerald Saxophone Quartet.
Joseph has received a bachelor’s degree and a performer’s certificate from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he studied with Dr. Chien-Kwan Lin, as well as a master’s degree from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he studied with Arno Bornkamp and Willem van Merwijk. He has performed in masterclasses for the Sinta Quartet, Vincent David, and Yasuto Tanaka.
Tessa Frazer
Tenor Saxophone
Tessa Frazer achieved a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours in Classical Performance at Te Kōkī - New Zealand School of Music, concurrently completing a Bachelor of Science in Physics at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington. She is currently studying towards a Master of Music at Codarts University of the Arts under Femke IJlstra.
In New Zealand, Tessa has performed professionally with all major orchestras, including the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia, Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, and Orchestra Wellington. She has extensive experience in wind ensembles and works professionally as a Leading Aircraftman in the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band. She has appeared as a concerto soloist with ensembles including the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Royal New Zealand Air Force Band, and Nelson Symphony Orchestra.
Since moving to the Netherlands, Tessa has performed extensively throughout Europe. She has been a member of the Ricciotti Ensemble, performed with the Codarts Wind Band and the Royal Netherlands Marine Band, and has been accepted into the European Union Youth Wind Orchestra for 2026.
Zofia Kęsy
Baritone Saxophone
Zofia Kęsy is a Polish saxophonist currently based in France. She completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, studying with Lars Niederstrasser, and is currently continuing her studies at the Conservatoire de Lyon with Jean-Denis Michat.
Her musical interests are centred around contemporary music, chamber music, and improvisation. She particularly enjoys working closely with composers and bringing new works to life, while improvisation gives her another space for spontaneity and creative discovery.
Chamber music has always been an important part of her musical journey. From 2020 to 2024, she performed as part of a saxophone-percussion duo at concerts, festivals, and competitions. The duo was awarded First Prize at the Kamermuziek Concours Gelre in 2023 and was a finalist at the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours in 2025.
For Zofia, playing in the Emerald Saxophone Quartet is a special experience: it combines her passion for chamber music with the joy of making music alongside close friends.
